In recent days, heavy rainfall and flooding have caused significant damage and resulted in loss of life and property across several areas of Southern Kurdistan. As a result of the flooding, 5 people have lost their lives and many others have been injured. The regions of Cemcemal, Germiyan and Kelar have been hit the hardest, with many homes and shops submerged under water. People in these flood-affected areas are in a dangerous situation and are waiting for assistance to meet their basic daily needs.
As the humanitarian aid organization Heyva Sor a Kurdistanê, we have been actively responding since the very first moments of the flooding. Our organization is collecting financial support for the flood victims and is working to meet people’s needs directly on the ground.
